You could live on water alone for 30 to 40 days, but if you go without water in some kind of form for more than three days, you will probably die. A metabolism that is not working to its capacity will not burn fat properly.

When you’re dehydrated, you can’t function at your best and every part of your body can begin to shut down if you are if it doesn’t get enough water. Your skin, your brain, and every organ in your body needs water to work properly. Especially your kidneys, and liver, because that is where toxins are stored.

I myself have had muscle cramps, quite frequently, actually, and I never realized it could be due to not drinking enough water. I always thought it was a vitamin or mineral deficiency, like magnesium, but I guess that might be in the water too and could cause my muscle cramps. I do also have frequent headaches that I thought was attributed to sinus or pressure headaches, but many times it didn’t seem reasonable to think that. Now, I am thinking that all this time I have been dehydrated. I have never been a huge fan of just drinking water unless I have exercised. But, now I know that we all need a lot of water regardless if we exercise or don’t. I do know that many times that I have tried to drink more water regularly for a period of time, I suddenly realize that I need more water more often, that I am actually thirsty now. I think the more water you drink, the more your body recognizes that and craves more water. Then, if you start depriving it again, it lets you know but craving more and needing more.
Drinking water before meals helps reduce appetite and rev up your metabolism. It acts to fill you up before you eat, so you will eat less at meal times. It is a strategy that may fool your body into thinking it’s already had enough to eat and will actually eat less when food is present at meals.
